BCS Higher Education qualifications are internationally recognised IT qualifications from BCS, acknowledging practical experience and academic ability. The BCS Professional Graduate Diploma (with project) is shown as being equivalent to a UK Bachelor’s degree with honours.

Over 50 universities in the UK and the UGC Sri Lanka, accept a pass at the Professional Graduate Diploma (with project) for entry to postgraduate degree programmes under University’s own entrance regulations.

The Certificate in IT focuses on the following core modules:

  • Information systems
  • Software development
  • Computer and network technology

Successful completion of the Certificate in IT means you are eligible to apply for BCS Associate (AMBCS) membership.

To study the Diploma in IT, you will need to have achieved, or been made exempt from, the Certificate in IT level.

The Diploma in IT modules include:

Core module
  • Professional issues in information systems practice
Optional modules (choose three)
  • Computer networks
  • Database systems
  • IT project management
  • Object oriented programming
  • Systems analysis and design
  • Principles of internet technologies
  • IT service management
  • Software engineering (part 1)
  • Principles of user interface design

Successful completion of the Diploma in IT means you are eligible to apply for Professional (MBCS) membership of the Institute, if you also have three years’ experience as an IT professional.

To study the Professional Graduate Diploma in IT you will need to have achieved, or been made exempt from, the Certificate in IT and appropriate Diploma in IT level modules.

You choose four of the following modules:

  • Advanced database management systems
  • Management information systems
  • Software engineering (part 2)
  • Computer services management
  • Distributed and parallel systems
  • Knowledge based systems
  • Network information systems
  • Programming paradigms
  • Realising the user interface
  • System design methods
  • Web engineering
  • IT and the environment

Successful completion of the Professional Graduate Diploma in IT, with project, enables you to apply for selected postgraduate courses at university and means you are eligible to apply for Professional (MBCS) membership of the Institute.
